The sense curiosity

Today we will find out some curiosities about the tasting. Did you know it?

  • The winery is not the ideal place for tasting, since it is rich in aromas and the humid and cool environment can influence the perceived impressions.
  • Generally, the afternoon tasting scorings are worse than the morning tasting scorings since our mood and sensory capabilities are influenced by the great sensorial impacts we receive during the whole day.
  • Our sense of smell is quickly finished. Even if a smell is very strong, it is impossible to perceive it for a long period of time.
  • If a faulty wine is frequently drunk, it is impossible to recognize its defect.
  • The taster is easily influenced.
  • The moderate consumption of tobacco doesn’t affect to our sensitivity, but it is recommended not to smoke during the hour leading up to the tasting.
  • Yours lips’ sensitivity allows you to distinguish a difference of only a degree of temperature (between 10ºC and 20ºC).
  • The meat consumption increases the perception of sweet and acid flavors.
  • If the wine is sharply swirled, the aromas that stand out are less pleasant.
