After several post, discovering the culture of the wine and the moment of the tasting, little more we has for saying. The important is now to practice.
But before starting to the work, we would like to do some recommendations that will allow you to enjoy the tasting and to promote all the essence of the wine you are tasting.
- To serve the wine at the right temperature.
- To use a suitable glass.
- To fill only a third of the glass.
- To hold the glass by its stem to avoid increasing its temperature and avoiding any aromas which might be on the hands.
- To tilt the glass to check the wine surface and its colour intensity.
- To raise the glass to eye level and check the wine colour, appearance, and brilliance.
- To note if there is any sign of effervescence in the wine, and also its viscosity and legs.
- Without swirling, to bring the glass to your nose to notice the primary aromas.
- To swirl the wine in the glass and to smell again to perceive the secondary aromas.
- To let the wine stand in the glass and then to bring it again to your nose to smell the tertiary aromas.
- To take a sip of wine, but do not swallow yet. Roll the wine around in your mouth exposing it to all of your tastebuds.
- To aerate the wine. With your lips pursed as if you were to whistle, draw some air into your mouth and exhale through your nose. This liberates the aromas of the wine and allows them to reach your nose where they can be detected.
- To note the aftertaste.
- To spit the wine.
