The entry in the Chinese market meant one of our main challenges of internationalization since 2010. However, it is now when the winery starts to set the definite bases to achieve it.
The path towards the conquest of the Asian giant passed for the creation in the 2013 of a company in Shanghai, Galicia Food & Drink Shanghai-China, created through a consortium with another four Galician companies belonging to different sectors, a project PRIMEX CHINA financed jointly by Fondos Feder. This way, the winery has since this year a commercial office whose goal is the search for importers in the main capitals and the positioning of the mark Martín Códax among the main wines of import in the country.
In these moments the winery has some of its emblematic marks, as Martín Códax, Cuatro Pasos or Marieta introduced in cities as Shanghai or Hong Kong through three different importers that managed to get the wine to arrive at bars and restaurants, the best channel for introducting wines of quality.
the awards received by our wines in the last years, more than a half a hundred, and the assistance to fairs help a lot t increase our presence in China.
Throughout the 2014 we will attend again the Fook & Hotel Fair, one of the main fairs of the country, and we will attend also the one of Sial in May, another of the essential appointments among the main importers and Asian distributors.
At present, although the consumption of wine in China is moderated it has increased, especially of wines bottled of import. Because of that the winery has great expectations put in this country. It is a strategy at long term but it is estimated that in approximately five years China is one of the main markets of Martín Códax.
