The prestigious wine specialized magazine, The Drink Business, recently published an article about the 10 best Spanish women winemakers. We couldn’t be prouder of our oenology director, Katia Álvarez who is among those ten women. After years working in this sector, especially with albariño grape, she has managed to be known among the great professionals of the country, at the level of important women winemakers in important wineries such as Vega Sicilia, Marqués de Cáceres or Torres.
Lucy Shaw, who wrote the article, highlights Katia´s prodcution style which is based on the respect for the varietal. She also emphasizes the beginnings of our winemaker and the direct and constant contact she has always had with the wine because of her family fondness in the matter. This is the principal reason why she decided to study winemaking to then, turning it into her career.
The English magazine also stresses Katia’s Álvarez determination and hard work to be able to understand the grape and take it to its maximum potential in order to be faithful to its origins and authenticity.
