The nine varieties that the project incubates are the Albariño, Godello, Treixadura, Laurel, white Canine, Mencía, Castamal, Merenzao and dark Canine.
The scientific part of the project was ordered to the CSIC and to the ITG that the works of research carry out through the group of viticulture of the Biological Mission of Galicia and of the area of Technological innovation of the ITG. They have also the collaboration of the Unviersidad Politécnica of Madrid.
To reach the goals of this project, that it will situate Galicia in the vanguard of the technology and of the generation of knowledge in the national wine sector, it will be analyzed the grape harvests of years 2012, 2013 and 2014; vines will be monitored through a system of wireless sensors nets and the obtained data will be analyzed to be able to elaborate models of illnesses notices.
In essence, the project INNTER GAL-ENO 2012 intends to know in depth the Galician varietal potential through the analysis and detailed study of the data obtained from essays in field multifactorial that will allow knowing the optimum conditions for the crop of every variety, in every specific “terroir“. Through the development of predicting models adapted to the Galician viticulture, also strategies of control, capable of preventing illnesses and plagues, will be able to be applied.
