The first Rías Baixas semidry albariño, Marieta 2012, produced by Bodegas Martín Códax, received two gold medals in the challenge Baco Joven 2013. The first one given by the oficial jury, formed by members of the Association of Sumilleres of Málaga and Coast of the Sun, for professionals of reputation of the sector and specialized journalists, and the second one arrived thanks to the not professional jury , formed by public and consumers, receiving the maximum award of the Special Prize of the competition. It is a very important recognition since it came from the consumers.
Besides, in the same competition they were also awarded the albariño Alba Martín 2012, with a gold medal and the mencía produced in the Bierzo, Cuatro Pasos 2011, with a silver medal.
The competition Baco Joven 2013 was organized by the specialized online publication Diario de Vinos and it was celebrated on the 15th of May in Málaga, in the course of the event Actus Vimun. This was his first edition.
But the recognitions do not end here. This same week the results of the competition Decanter World Wine Awards, celebrated in London, were made public. In it, the wines produced by Bodegas Martín Códax received a total of 6 medals: four of bronze for Martín Códax 2012, Burgáns 2012, Organistrum 2010 and Alba Martín 2012; and two of silver for the new mencía Pizarras de Otero 2012 and the albariño Caixas 2012 produced by the winery for one of the main chains of wines in United Kingdom, Majestic Wines.
The Decanter World Wine Awards celebrated his tenth edition and more than 14.000 wines were presented to it. The competition acquired international admiration for being a supplier of an understanding and authoritarian source of recommendations for all of them, from those that initiate the world of the wine up to the more experimented enthusiasts. The success of the DWWA is owed to a large extent about this granted by the industry of the wine to international level. The jury was composed by 30 of the best palates of the world of the wine, including commercial, sumilleres, reviewers, writers, Masters of Wine and Master Sumillers.
