Martín Códax winery will probably start the harvest on the next 22nd of september but it will depend on the climatological conditions for the next days.  It will be a gradual grape harvest, which will allow us collecting the grape in its perfect point of ripen.

After a spring with usual precipitations and temperatures, climate of summer months provoked some delays in the vegetative growth of the vineyard and therefore in the ripen.

At present, as our staff of the department of viticulture have indicated, the ripen of the grape advances thanks to the good weather of the last days. All this indicates that the dates of grape harvest will be similar to 2013.

We will have to wait for two weeks more to define the final quality of grapes, but Miguel Tubío, Martín Códax viticulture Director, has advanced that “all notes indicate that this vintage will be fresh and very atlantic remembering to the origins of Rías Baixas”

Regarding to the rest of facilities of Martín Códax winery, harvest will be gradual also.

In  Bierzo appellation, the winery will start the harvest this week. Precisely the fresher conditions of the summer provoked an advancement in the phenolic ripen  “reaching balances of ripen much before than other years” as Tubío explained.

Monterrei appellation, where Martín Códax produces godello, also presents an advancement and interesting balances of sugar and acidity with a fresher profile of the usual one for the area.
